Strengthening Design Leadership at Berry & Escott
We’re pleased to welcome Phil Hobbs to Berry & Escott as our new Design Manager.
Phil brings almost 40 years’ experience across design and engineering, with deep expertise spanning machining, fabrication, and mechanical and electro-design. For more than two decades, he has worked within the medical and scientific sectors, leading product design, development, and project management for fume containment systems, microbiological safety, and clean-room environments.
Alongside his technical capability, Phil offers strong strategic leadership. In his previous role, he spent 11 years as part of a senior management team and represented the UK at BSI, contributing as an expert to the drafting of EN standards at international level in fume containment and microbiological safety.
Phil’s appointment strengthens our in-house design capability and reinforces our commitment to precision, compliance, and engineered confidence across every stage of delivery.
Outside of work, Phil is a keen and competitive runner, currently training for the Newport Marathon, and serves as chairman of his local running club. When not on the road or trail, he enjoys photography, with a particular passion for sport, military aviation, and astrophotography.
